TRIBECA FESTIVAL '22
TRIBECA FESTIVAL '22
Is it even going to happen?
That was the question looming over us as we worked tirelessly to produce the 2022 edition of the beloved Tribeca Festival for it’s first IRL edition post the Covid-19 pandemic.
It did happen! And it was incredible. True to its mission, it revived not only a neighborhood, but a city and a community of creative storytellers.
I partnered closely with Discovery+, Sephora, Bank of America and Grindr to create and host bespoke experiences that were true to their brand’s values and allowed them to organically and authentically integrate at the festival.
Our partnership began with a kick-off call to establish their goals and ensure the festival values aligned with what the brands wanted to achieve. Based on that conversation, I created and presented a creative proposal alongside a detailed production budget.
For Bank of America, I organized a private premiere event of Rise and Rebuild: A Tale of Three Cities days before Juneteenth with pre-reception, Tribeca Studios CCO remarks, a post-screening panel including filmmakers and film subjects, and brand activation touch-points throughout.
For Discovery+, I organized an exclusive reception, panel, screening and performance which brought together Tyra Banks and Trixie Mattel to celebrate LGBTQ+ youth during Pride Month.
For Sephora, I produced a special screening of The Beauty of Blackness followed by a discussion with filmmakers Kiana Moore and Tiffany Johnson, which went on to win that year’s Tribeca X documentary award. On the morning of the awards, I arranged for a pop-up celebratory brunch with the filmmakers and guests of honor.
For Grindr, I organized what was dubbed “the best afterparty” of the festival. The brand was excited to help amplify the film All Man: The International Male Story, which explored the world and cult following the renowned magazine. The party was held at Joyface, a beloved LGBTQ+ venue on the Lower East Side, and included out-of-print editions of The International Male magazine which were autographed by the cover models who we flew in specifically for the screening and the afterparty. The autographed editions were raffled off to party goers. Grindr made a lasting impression on the curated guests with themed cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, a drag performance and lively games.
And thankfully, with perfect-timing, Covid got me the day after my last project wrapped successfully.
